About Astoria Pointe
Astoria Pointe is a residential drug and alcohol abuse treatment center for men suffering from chemical dependency, alcoholism and drug addiction. We are a complete program for recovery dealing with all forms of chemical addiction and dual-diagnosed individuals, taking our clients all the way from detoxification to aftercare. while maintaining the highest standards in drug and alcohol-abuse rehabilitation.
Astoria Pointe is located in a unique setting on the northern most tip of the Oregon coastline. From its facility, Astoria Pointe has breathtaking views of the Columbia River as it meets the Pacific Ocean. The miles and miles of Oregon coastline and beaches are famous throughout the world for their great beauty. While at the center, a client can walk endlessly on sandy beaches with the ocean crashing on the shore. Our unique location is visited from people all over who wish to vacation and embrace this splendid area. We are very fortunate to have our treatment center in an area surrounded by so much natural beauty.
Also beneficial to a recovering client is Astoria itself, the oldest settlement on the Oregon coast rich in history. Gift and antique shops, fine restaurants and a variety of excellent art galleries are all here, against a picturesque backdrop of the Columbia River, a river trolley, and ocean-going ships plying the waters of the Pacific. Hiking trails and forts, such as the Lewis and Clark trail from Fort Clatsop to the ocean, abound. The setting in and around Astoria is peaceful and quiet, ideal for individuals endeavoring to free themselves from the harsh and discordant world of drugs and alcohol.

Mission Statement
Astoria Pointe is committed to provide the highest quality of care for the alcohol and chemically dependent individuals along with their families. Our program presents an opportunity to embrace a better way of life. We know that addiction is a chronic, progressive, and potentially fatal disease that affects the body, mind and spirit. Our tradition integrates the wisdom and experience of the Twelve Step Program along with current research on addiction.
It has been proven through extensive studies that a holistic treatment approach to treatment, such as Astoria Pointe’s, empowers an individual to recognize and accept his addiction more openly and successfully. Our goal is to establish for each addict a recovery program predicated on abstinence, and to make it absolutely clear to the addict that abstinence demands a commitment on his part. Honesty and inner discipline are key to success. We care deeply; we want every abuser of drugs or alcohol who comes to Astoria Pointe to leave our center a strong, positive and rehabilitated person. We also know that treatment by itself, without an addict’s resolve to stay clean, is only a stopgap measure. We provide and we show the way; but lasting success is ultimately up to the individual’s determination and will to abstain.

Founders
The founders of Astoria Pointe are Bill & Ellie Dooner. They began with a vision of opening a recovery center in a location they love so dearly, Astoria, Oregon. Their center has come to fruition due to their commitment to succeed, their belief in the Twelve Step Program, and a lot of hard work. Bill D. remembers when as a young man, his life was unmanageable. He couldn’t keep a job and was a great disappointment to himself and everyone who knew him. He lived with pain, anger, and failure. Despite many attempts himself to stop drinking, he never succeeded and would seek answers in the bottle over and over again.
After he joined Alcoholics Anonymous, Bill D. learned that he was worthy of a better life and could have all his dreams come true if he worked the Twelve Step Program. Since that day in August 1955, Bill D. has accumulated over fifty years of continual sobriety. He has owned and run a number of successful businesses, has a happy marriage of over fifty years, has
five healthy, positive-minded adult children and three beautiful
grandchildren.
Just like millions around the globe, Bill D. was given a second chance thanks to caring, motivated people dedicated to helping him throw off his chains of dependency. This is his dream, his goal, at Astoria Pointe for all the needy, often desperate people who come to our door. Getting sober is the beginning of a great journey for these individuals, a new life free from debilitating drugs and alcohol. Astoria Pointe and now The Rosebriar are here for all, who like Bill D., got tired of the darkness and had the initiative to reach for a star.
